Unbeatable Energy is led by its principal facilitator and artist Steve Rivers; a skilled percussionist with a refreshingly vibrant and flamboyant philosophy and style. Steve has spent a considerable amount of time visiting West African countries
including Gambia, Guinea and Senegal researching drumming history, culture
and learning new rhythms, beats and dances that he brings to bear in his
workshops. Unbeatable Energy often incorporates other performers and drummers into the sessions it provides for clients in the public, private and community sectors. Any facilitator involved in an Unbeatable Energy session will be of the highest calibre. |

Paul Butler is an expert percussionist specialising in African hand drumming and Cuban/Latin rhythms. He studied djembe and doun doun (African bass drum) under Magatte Dieng and Seckou Keita and Steve Rivers. He collaborates frequently with Tongesai Gumbo (Zimbabwean dance choreographer). He visited Cuba to perfect his skills in Afro Cuban/Latin American rhythms under the Cuban percussionist Pedro Rodriguez. Paul has had 17 years experience in playing and performing and has been teaching for 6 years starting with a lottery funded organisation called ‘Yorkshire Youth and Music’ whose aims were to bring disaffected children back into ‘mainstream’ education through music. His workshops cater for both adults and children and he is an especially popular teacher in schools, due to his ability to channel fun and energy into learning and performing. |

Paul Bennett is an accomplished percussionist whose enthusiasm for his work with Unbeatable Energy knows no bounds. Paul's first hand experience of the power of community drumming reinforces his belief that it builds bridges where words only serve to divide. He has witnessed its potential to bring healing, understanding and a common ground for individuals, communities and corporate identities alike. With his background being in traditional Western percussion, Paul has spent time evolving his style and techniques towards developing what he calls "a very different tribal groove"; one that uses his passion and belief in drumming as a tool for deep communication and great fun! In 2003 Paul was fortunate enough to attend the U.K. Drumming Facilitators Playshop with the internationally acclaimed Drum Circle leader Arthur Hull, an experience which not only developed his skills but had a profound effect on him as an individual. |
